Neighborhoods to Nations: Good News for All People

What does it take to truly know Jesus and who is the gospel really for? In Acts 16, Paul and Silas bring the gospel to Philippi, where God reaches people from completely different backgrounds: a successful and religious woman, a spiritually oppressed slave girl, and an apathetic jailer. Their stories remind us that the gospel is not limited by our status, struggles, knowledge, or past.

The gospel is for religious people who are seeking answers, for those trapped in darkness and spiritual bondage, and for those who may feel indifferent toward God. Lydia’s heart is opened as she hears the truth. A slave girl experiences freedom through the power of Jesus. And a jailer, confronted by the suffering and faith of Paul and Silas, asks, “What must I do to be saved?”

The answer is simple and life-changing: “Believe in the Lord Jesus.”
